摘要
The magnetic susceptibility, entropy, and electronic specific heat are calculated in the case of a hollow metallic cylinder placed in a magnetic field, both for weak and intermediate fields. Results are also presented for low and high temperatures. The obtained results show that the shell may acquire paramagnetic properties for some values of the field and diamagnetic properties for some other ones. However, this effect decays with increasing temperature and wall thickness. The electronic specific heat contributes strongly to the shell specific heat round a critical temperature while it becomes negligible near another temperature at which the specific heat due to lattice vibrations becomes dominant.
