USE OF TIME INFORMATION IN MUON LEVEL-CROSSING RESONANCE SPECTROSCOPY

摘要
Muon level-crossing resonance (mu-LCR) spectroscopy is used to measure the variation of the emitted-positron asymmetry with respect to the longitudinal magnetic field, averaged over the muon lifetime. However, for pulsed and even chopped mu+ beams, time information can be used (i) to produce a stronger resonance signal, and (ii) to avoid most of the sensitivity to drifts, as compared to the customary integral mu-LCR technique. This can be done without reverting to the low-data rates normally required for time-differential muon-spin resonance (mu-SR) spectroscopy at cw accelerators.
