SCREENING FOR DRUGS OF ABUSE BY SYVA EMIT(R) II REAGENTS ON THE BM/HITACHI 717 ANALYZER

The performance of Syva Emit(R) II reagents on the BM/Hitachi 717 analyzer for the screening of phencyclidine (PCP) and cannabinoids (THC) was evaluated. All procedures stipulated by the manufacturer for the semi-quantitative analysis were followed. Within-run and between-run precision studies showed that the coefficient of variation for both assays was below 0.97% for all concentrations tested. in addition there was no detectable sample carryover. These new products provided accurate drug-of-abuse screening at cutoff limits of 25 ng/mL for PCP and 20, 50 and 100 ng/mL for THC, depending on the Emit II reagents used. When compared to the Emit(R) d.a.u.(TM) assays the on Syva ETS(R) analyzer or the BM/Hitachi 717, the Emit II reagents had improved accuracy and precision. The use of the Emit II reagents on BM/Hitachi 717 instrument allows for screening of large batches of samples for drugs-of-abuse.
