摘要
The article describes one aspect of the creation of an information resource by the staff of the State Public Scientific-Technological Library of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The resource based on film and video documents is devoted to this year's 60th anniversary of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SB RAS). In this paper the main emphasis is given on the description of open access collections of digital video materials documenting the history and development of science in the Siberian region from the 1950s to date and used for creating the thematic database and the chronological resource "Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences: year after year" (http://history.sib-science.info/). The Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Academy of Sciences of the USSR at the time) was established in 1957. Currently, the Siberian Branch is the largest integrator and the main expert of research institutions, academic institutions, development and industrial organizations of the Russian East. In the past decades, a large body of newsreels and documentaries had been accumulated, many of them have already been (or are being) digitized. Moreover, the flow of video documents on the Siberian science dynamically increases. The separated materials are hold in archives, stored on the web pages of research institutions, kept by individuals, by TV and film companies, etc. For this reason, in the preparation of the thematic resource on the history of the Siberian Branch the Internet monitoring was conducted, and the content analysis of related results was done subsequently. Priority was primarily accorded to newsreels and documentaries on the Siberian Branch and its eminent figures, but then the video recordings of news programs, interviews and lectures have been also taken into consideration. All video collections described in this overview can be roughly divided on central-level (state-level), regional-level and city-level depending on developers, topics and content of the accumulated materials. A total of twenty open collections are considered, most of which are city-level resources. It was found that video materials usually are gathered in databases, electronic catalogues or HTML resources, but their developers do not follow unified rules on description of audiovisual products. The visual heritage of the Siberian Branch of the RAS is currently being searched, selected and preserved. Our goal is to bring together and preserve historical video information on the Siberian science, as well to make it available to the general public.
