摘要
This article discusses the concept of local culture in order to test its relevance in the context of a metropolis like Mexico City. In a first part of the article I expose two theoretical contributions that I consider fundamental to this field. The first argument is the now classic Appadurai about the production of the local dimension as a specific result of anthropological approach as a localized approach. The second contribution is that of three British scholars, Savage - Bagnall and Longhurst, who redefine and renew the local issue of belonging in the urban context. In a second part we set out quantitative and qualitative data about the practices and representations of local space in Mexico City. Finally, in the concluding part I carry out some considerations in order to redefine the importance of local dimension in a relational sense and in accordance with the social and spatial diversity of the metropolis.
