NEW DATABASE FOR THE PULP AND PAPER-INDUSTRY

Paperbase International, a new service to the international pulp and pa; per community, was unveiled on 1 April. The European research institutes behind the new database - KCL (Finland), Pira International CUK), CTP (France) and STFI (Sweden) - believe their new product has good prospects for success not just in Europe but worldwide. Paperbase provides extensive coverage of literature on technology, research and marketing in countries with pulp and paper production. An abstract from the database will be published monthly, together with a CD-ROM disk four times a year. ''KCL's database system also offers 'Express', a fast-access database that does not include abstracts. For this database, weekly reviews are available'', says Jorma Paakko, Research Manager, Technical Information Management, at KCL (article on page 166).
