摘要
Correlation between the percentage of cracked eggs, detected by tapping in the hatchery, and the means of two egg-shell quality measurements (specific gravity and shell color) was determined using a total of 1240 intact eggs from 30 flocks. The largest correlation (-.73) was with specific gravity (P < .001); the coefficient with shell color was .41 (P < .05). The results suggest that specific gravity and shell color are adequate indicators of shell cracks. Flocks with low percentage of cracked eggs hatched better than flocks with high percentages, the correlation coefficient being -.47 (P < .05).
