摘要
[Fluoride becomes a problem of fundamental importance considering a steadily increasing threat of natural environment contaminated with the industrial emission of fluoride.] The effect of 2 mo. fluoride administration (0.1 and 1.0 mg daily/rat) on thyroxine [T4] and triiodothyronine [T3] level in blood and T3-resin uptake ratio was investigated in rats. In addition, free T4 index was calculated from serum T4 level and T3-resin uptake ratio. Fluoride administration caused a decrease in T4 and T3 level in plasma a decrease in free T4 index values and an increase in T3-resin uptake ratio. Fluoride given continously to the rats apparently may influence the thyroid gland rather indirectly by changing thyroid hormone transportation in the blood.
