摘要
The thermal fatigue behaviour of glass is studied analytically and experimentally. Temperatures and stress intensity factors were calculated for cylindrical test specimens containing semi-elliptical surface cracks. The calculations of crack propagation during the fatigue tests were performed on the assumption that only subcritical crack growth as occurring in static tests is responsible for crack propagation and no additional cyclic damage occurs. The predictions of failure are in rather good agreement with the experiments.
