NONCOHERENT SCATTERING IN VERTICALLY EXTENDED BE STAR DISKS - WINEBOTTLE-TYPE EMISSION-LINE PROFILES

摘要
Based on three-dimensional radiative line-transfer calculations, theoretical emission-line profiles from homogeneous, isothermal, rotating disks around Be stars are presented. The emission-line profiles for a two-level atom with complete redistribution show symmetric double peaks and symmetric flank inflections (of the winebottle-type) as a natural consequence of the combination of two mechanisms : rotational broadening in a Keplerian disk and broadening by non-coherent scattering, due to multiple absorption and re-emission of line radiation perpendicular to the disk plane. This new interpretation is offered as an alternative to the two-component disk-model of Kogure (1969).
