SIZE EFFECTS IN ANCHOR PERFORMANCE

The performance of marine drag anchors is most usually predicted by the use of design charts that clearly indicate that efficiency reduces as the size of the anchor increases, the reduction being larger in sandy seabeds than in cohesive seabeds. Two principal causes of this size effect are identified and some indication given of ways in which the effect can be minimized.
