Ideologic analysis of lexicographic discourse: a methodological proposal for Spanish monolingual dictionaries

This article aims to fill in a gap in the ideological analysis of monolingual and general dictionaries in an attempt to propose a coherent and systematic methodology for those who intend to analyze lexicographic discourse focusing on ideological aspects. This methodology has a descriptive, explanatory, and critical nature. Our purpose is to round off partial views in the ideological analysis of dictionaries, and offer a number of fundamental principles and resources for that analysis. Furthermore, we hope that, with this new approach to lexicographic repertoires as objects of discourse analysis, the value of the dictionary as one of the most complex, interesting, and influential written works may be duly appreciated.
