Letter of Love: the memory of the civil war in the dramaturgy of Fernando Arrabal

This is a study on Carta de amor (Como um suplicio chino), a tragic, poetic and autobiographical monologue, in which the residues of the Spanish Civil War are sought within the texture of the play. The action, composed by the protagonist character, the Mother, denounces the presence of the playwright Fernando Arrabal. The analysis will rely on theoretical studies based on theatre semiology; on the psychoanalytical analysis of Jung's symbols and in Bergson's philosophy, structured by the comprehension of reality through the "duree" approach.
