The search for effective methods of seasonal allergens avoidance is a big challenge for investigators. The evidence of harmfulness of seasonal, cross-reactive allergens and allied allergens needs to be examined. Still only few studies provide information of the effectiveness of the undertaken actions. However, the elimination is recommended by EAACI and WHO/IUIS (IUIS - International Union of Immunological Societies) standards. According to formulated resolutions, allergic rhinitis symptoms can be reduced due to: awareness of the present and expected pollen count, the avoidance of plant-rich areas (holidays at the seaside or in the mountains), the disposal of allergen reservoirs in rooms, using polymer lecithin covering (which may decrease pollen adherence), anti-pollen HEPA filters in cars and houses, the avoidance of biking and walking on sunny days, the avoidance of opening windows in vehicles and in the house, and the avoidance of camping when pollen concentration is high, using sunglasses, changing clothes and taking shower (in order to clean pollens off the body), the avoidance of air-drying and mowing, etc. Several methods used together will guarantee better results. No elimination of pollens may lead to unsuccessful immunotherapy. Allergy prevention among healthy people requires also the education of society, as well as the monitoring of pollen and mould. Tha effective elimination of allergens must be as specific as the selection of the immunotherapy vaccine.
