摘要：

The paper deals with the problem situation historically formed during the period of the beginnings of philosophy of culture and its formation as an independent scientific discipline. The focus of attention is concentrated on the philosopher G. Simmel's investigations of the philosophical-poetical strivings of Goethe. Goethe's world outlook had a significant meaning for choosing the metaphysical program of culture understanding fundamentally different from traditional classical metaphysics.
