DETERMINATION OF BASIC PARAMETERS FOR DAMAGE CORRELATION

Simulation irradiation aims at predicting the radiation damage to be produced in the fusion reactor. Basic processes governing the individual damage evolution are the recoil-induced atomic mixing, the production rate of single defects and the effective concentration of point defect sinks. Damage correlation means essentially quantitative comparison of these effects for different kinds of irradiating particles and various incident energies applied to each given material. In addition, damage prediction requires knowledge of the quantitative influence of the above fundamental radiation effects on the damage evolution. Existing data are sketched. Necessary research is pointed out.
