摘要
Supracondylar fractures of the humerus is one of the commonest injuries in childhood, pose a great challenge to the treating surgeon. Even though complications like Volkman's Ischemic contracture are the thing of the past due to advancement in orthopedic care, cosmetic sequelae are commonly encountered. Cubitus varus deformity remains a major problem. We studied 21(N-21) fractures which included Gartland type II and type III fractures which were treated by closed reduction and Percutaneous lateral 2 pin fixation. We obtained excellent results in 73% of type II cases, 60% of type III cases with a total excellent result in the series coming to 66%, without any iatrogenic nerve injury. We recommend closed reduction and lateral pinning by 2 k-wires for all displaced supracondylar fractures of the humerus in children.
