We carried out a numerical calculation of pulsive losses in the superconducting conductor to be used for the large helical coil system of the Large Helical Device (LHD) project. The monolithic conductors of the pool cooled type are stabilized by a large amount of aluminum. We took up four kinds of the R&D conductors which are different in the location and the shape of the aluminum stabilizer. The value of the losses depends not only upon them but also upon the cabling condition of the superconducting strand bundle. From the low loss point of view, we propose the conductor design to be optimized.
