PRESSURE-DEPENDENCE OF THE MAGNETIC ORDER IN YMN2 AND TBMN2

The P-T magnetic and structural phase diagrams of YMn2 have been mapped over the ranges 0 < P < 4 kbar, 2 < T < 150 K using neutron powder diffraction. Increasing pressure rapidly, but inhomogeneously, destabilises the Mn moment and by 2.7 kbar all magnetic order is lost. In TbMn2 the Mn moment is similarly destabilised but the DyMn2 canted ferromagnetic structure is obtained.
