摘要
The thickness h of a surfactant adsorption layer plus a solvation layer of magnetite particles dispersed in n-decane or water ('magnetic fluids') has been estimated from the sedimentation velocity using an analytical ultracentrifuge (h = 4.6 or 4.7 nm) considering Fe3O4 core radii of 4.6 and 5.0 nm, respectively. Compression experiments and the spontaneous redispersability confirm the high stability of the n-decane magnetic fluids, in agreement with theoretical considerations.
