Transsexualism principles in transsexualism. Sexual identity disorders

Transsexualism (TS) describes the severest type of gender identity disorder (gender dysphoria syndrome), which can occur in both male and female subjects. To achieve satisfactory therapeutic results in subjects with "male>female" or "female>male" TS, the observance of an established treatment strategy is essential. This strategy comprises five time phases: (1) Diagnosis; (2) real-life test; (3) cross-sex therapy; (4) transformation surgery; (5) follow-up. Simultaneous psychotherapy is essential during all of these therapeutic phases. The legal framework valid in individual countries must be observed.
