THE TEMPERATURE-DEPENDENCE OF GIANT-RESONANCES IN HOT NUCLEI

摘要
We extend the Hartree-Fock (HF) equations and the linear response theory in coordinate space to describe a system at finite temperature. The positions and the transition strengths of giant dipole resonances and giant quadrupole resonances in the nucleus Pb-208 at different temperatures are calculated in the random phase approximation based on the HF single-particle states. The calculations show that the energies of the giant resonances shift downward and broaden as temperature increases.
