AN APFIM TEM ANALYSIS OF THE DISCONTINUOUS PRECIPITATION IN A NI-7.5 AT-PERCENT IN ALLOY

摘要
Discontinuous precipitation (DP) in a Ni-7.5at%In alloy has been studied by means of atom-probe field ion microscopy (APFIM). A back-polishing method using a transmission electron microscope (TEM) has been developed to prepare APFIM specimens in a systematic manner, so that the reaction front and the two-phase lamellar structure can be positioned in the tip apex. APFIM results of the subsequent analysis of the chemical composition across the interfaces are reported.
