A CROSS-SECTION THROUGH ALLOCHTONOUS OPHIOLITES AND GNEISS BETWEEN THE PELAGONIAN MASSIF AND THE PAIKON WINDOW (NORTHERN GREECE)

In view of the discovery of the Paikon tectonic window, the complete cross-section is examined from the Kaimaktchalan massif (a part of the Pelagonian massif) to the Paikon window where the same material reappears. On top of this Pelagonian material, ophiolitic thrust units which represent the Vardar oceanic crust and superimposed metamorphic thrust units which represent the Serbo-Macedonian massif have been tectonically emplaced from East to West after the Late Cretaceous.
