Reflections on the transition to democracy in Eastern Europe and the case of the Republic of Bulgaria

The end of the communist era is a turning point in global international relations. For Eastern Europe and Bulgaria it is also the beginning of a long process of transition towards democracy that involves important changes in politics, economics and social affairs. Furthermore, for the international community these changes entail not only reconsidering its relations with these countries but also the existing concept of Eastern Europe and discovering that each country in this region requires a particular consideration.
