RADIO LINK CONTROL TECHNIQUES FOR DIGITAL CELLULAR-SYSTEMS

This paper describes new radio link control techniques for digital cellular systems definition which is based on CCITT recommendations and its mapping on physical channels is described. Layered signalling protocols are used in control channel signal transmission mainly for ensuring system flexibility. In order to achieve high system capacity and improved services, enhanced radio link control techniques such as flexible re-use dynamic channel assignment, mobile assisted hand-off, and multi-layer location updating are introduced. Furthermore, mobile station authentication and radio link encryption are also introduced for system security.
