MOLECULAR-BIOLOGY TECHNIQUES

Molecular biology has provided new tools which are useful in many fields of clinical investigation. These basic techniques are briefly described: Southern blot, Northern blot, in situ hybridization, and in vitro enzymatic synthesis of DNA. These techniques are specific enough to be useful for antenatal diagnosis, family studies, and predictive studies.
