The Practice of Mothers to Prevent and Care of Diaper Dermatitis for Their 0-24 Months of Infants

摘要
Purpose: The study was planned as a descriptive research, mothers' practice to prevent and care of diaper dermatitis for their 0-24 months of infants. Method: A sample of the research group was created; 0-24 months year old babies who had diaper dermatitis at least one time and their mothers who has like to be volunteer to participate to research (N = 83). The data were obtained from infants of mothers who were admitted a Mother and Child Health and Family Planning Center in Istanbul. Data form was developed by researchers in accordance to the literature and questionnaires revised by expert opinion. Questionnaire was composed with demographic information of mother-baby pairs (17 questions) and information about mother's care for their babies diaper dermatitis(10 questions) questionary form was obtained totally 27 questions. Results: Babies who participate to research was (N = 83) 53% of babies was female (n = 44) and 47% was male (n = 39) and the average age of babies was 6.37 +/- 4.47 months, 32.5% of girls and 39.8% of boys had seen diaper dermatitis. 47% of the mothers expressed that used protective dermatitis cream for their babies' diaper dermatitis problem, 26.5% of the mothers was used therapeutic cream, 21.7% was just ventilated the diaper dermatitis area and 16.9% was used powder, only 19.3% of mothers was expressed that using protective cream for their babies daily care to prevent from diaper dermatitis, 66.3% of mothers was expressed that cleaning the bottom of the babies with wet wipes. mixed-fed infants has statistically significantly higher than the breastfed babies in the (chi(2)= 7.65, p=0.02) were determined. Conclusion: The majority of mothers was not using the appropriate methods for skin care and did not have enough information about this subject was identified. Mothers need to education to protect babies from diaper dermatitis and treatment applications for diaper dermatitis when their babies requirements for diaper dermatitis had observed.
