SOME ASPECTS OF AERODYNAMICS OF INDIAN BLAST-FURNACES

This paper gives a general outline of blast furnace aerodynamics and the limiting conditions for maximum productivity imposed in the stack bosh zone. Under Indian conditions of high slag rates and viscous slags, furnace production is mainly limited by bosh conditions. The flooding limit equation has been applied to Indian furnaces. The effects of slag rate, slag viscosity, coke mean diameter are discussed. Suggestions for improving productivity are made.
