FLUORESCENT DYES AND PIGMENTS

Fluorescent coloration is obtainable in plastics by the use of either fluorescent pigments or fluorescent dyes. The material type and end-product fastness characteristics dictate selection but fluorescent dyes generally have better performance although their application is limited to a small range of polymers. Recent progress in use of both colorants are reported along with problems encountered in their applications. Pigments and dyes available on the British market are reviewed.
