A method for image retrieval based on wavelet generalized histogram

摘要
This paper integrated the advantages of generalized histogram and wavelet transform and proposed a new method based on wavelet generalized histogram. Firstly, it processed the discrete wavelet transformation decomposition for the original image and constructed three wavelet smoothed images of the original image in the three directions of 0 degrees,90 degrees,135 degrees. Secondly, it combined the original image with each of the three smoothed images to form a binary set, which was just the wavelet generalized histogram. There were three wavelet smoothed images in the three directions, so it constructed three wavelet generalized histograms in the three directions respectively. Finally, it used the three generalized histograms for retrieval, and it not only considered the spatial correlation info, but also took full advantage of excellent character of wavelet transform. The experimental results show that the new method has an advanced general performance and improves the image retrieval precision.
