Present Trends in Distribution System Development with Regard to Supply Continuity

Distribution networks develop continuously, albeit sometimes slowly. This development is not solely related with connecting new customers but it could be accompanied with an implementation of innovate approaches. Some of trends, which can we observe in some countries nowadays, aiming to improving of electrical energy distribution to customers are increasing of extent of MV level telecontrol and automation, cabling of selected parts of a network and using of DC parts in a network. The paper presents a general summary of these approaches based on available information and compares them with tendencies that can be registered in our conditions. Impact of regulation of supply continuity is also discussed.
