摘要
BackgroundThe present study investigated the skin-whitening potential of porcine placental peptides (PPP), known for their anti-aging and moisturizing properties.ObjectiveThe primary focus was on melanin synthesis, secretion, and translocation through tyrosinase assays and experiments with murine B16F10 melanoma cells and human HaCaT keratinocytes.ResultsPPP significantly inhibited mushroom tyrosinase activity and reduced intracellular tyrosinase activity in a dose-dependent manner. Melanin secretion in both two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) cell cultures was also decreased, thus inhibiting melanin transfer to keratinocytes by reducing the expression of melanosome-related biomarkers such as Pmel17 and TRP-1.ConclusionThese findings indicate that PPP may be useful as a skin-whitening agent because it affects multiple stages of melanin production and transfer. However, further preclinical, and clinical tests are required to confirm the effectiveness of PPP.
